What are you doing reading your email? Unless you are doing so from a beach chair or blanket in Louis Engel Park, you are in the wrong spot. Tonight we will feature our second “Food Truck Friday” and 2019 Summer Concert Series installment—Ossining’s own Soul Projekt with featured singer Zola Kendi (I've heard her, she's awesome), will be performing on the Louis Engel Park stage beginning at 7PM, but no need to wait—the food trucks will start slinging at 5PM! This week, come down for Westchester Burger Company, Leila’s Crepe Station, the EMB rice ball truck, Aji Limo, and Sing Sing Kill Brewery. It’s going to be a great night along the Hudson River and we can’t wait to see you there!

As you might imagine, a lot of this week was about fireworks. We were certainly put through our paces, working with the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce to nail down last minute details, while making sure the food vendors had all of their paperwork, all the restrooms were fully stocked, the fireworks company had their wood piles, and the Parks Department stayed fully hydrated (Wednesday had a high of 86 degrees with 75% humidity). However, we had a fantastic night (some might say record-breaking attendance) and everyone had a fantastic time! And, not one drop of rain. Phew!
We have a lot of folks to thank for the success of this year's event. I have to give a big shout out to my office staff, Maddi Zachacz and Victoria Cafarelli for rolling with the punches and keeping us together to get to the finish line. They are awesome!
Big shout out to all of our first responders who made sure we could all celebrate safely.
- Our Police Chief Kevin Sylvester, Lt. Rich Damiano and the entire Ossining Police Department.
- Fire Chief Manny DaCruz, 1st Assistant Chief Scott Gallery and the entire (multi-award winning!) Ossining Volunteer Fire Department
- OVAC Chief Nick Franzoso and the paid and volunteer members of the Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps.
Next, for making Engel Park fireworks-concert-and food truck-ready, big thank you to Mario Velardo and the Town Parks Department! I also want to thank the Village Recreation and Parks Superintendent Bill Garrison, as well as his Parks staff and the DPW staff as well. We are grateful for all their hard work. Finally, a special thanks to the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce, Mike & Miriam Risko and the Jay Prince Band for making the night one we will never forget. Now to start planning for 2020!

Join us tonight for the annual Independence Day Fireworks Celebration at the Ossining waterfront! Grab your picnic blankets and head down to Louis Engel Park for dinner from our great line-up of food trucks, thanks to the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce, starting at 5pm. The food trucks include Abeetz (you can't lose with the Roni -- trust & believe), locally sourced ice cream & pops from The Blue Pig, Aji Limo Peruvian Cuisine with ceviche and wings and shakes, Cravin' Jamaican, Leila's Crepe Station, Hudson Lemonade, Lonnie’s Fish and Chips, Sabor Bakery, and all the way from New Jersey, Eat My Balls Food Truck with their famous rice balls (arancini, for those who know). Make sure to wash it all down with some local, cold, and delicious beer from Sing Sing Kill Brewery who will be dispensing for our guests 21+ all night long.
The Jay Prince Band starts their performance at 7pm, and the fireworks will be set off over the Hudson starting at 9pm. Plan on sticking around after the show to enjoy our beautiful waterfront while traffic clears up leaving the park. Hope to see you there!

Let's start with some awesome news-- the 2019 list of Best of Westchester winners have been revealed, and there are quite a few superstars among us here in Ossining! Among them-- Atria, Coral Sea Pools, Jimmy Dee Entertainment, Mike Risko Music, the Ossining Public Library, Pets A Go Go, and Village of Ossining newcomer Penny & Ting who won for Best Toy Store (I have to agree-- they are amazing.) Congratulations, we are so proud of you all! Thank you for making Ossining such an outstanding place to live, work and play.
It's finally here -- next week officially starts Ossining's Summer Concert Series! The Independence Day Fireworks Celebration will be next Wednesday, July 3rd, featuring a performance by the Jay Prince Band starting at 7PM. You are going to want to head down to the waterfront around 5PM to enjoy the great line-up of food trucks the Chamber of Commerce has helped to bring to Ossining for this community favorite. So far, the food trucks include Abeetz with some amazing pizza, The Blue Pig’s locally sourced ice cream, Aji Limo with ceviche and wings and shakes, Cravin' Jamaican, Leila's Crepe Station, Hudson Lemonade, Lonnie’s Fish and Chips, Sloppie Joe's, Sabor Bakery, and our very own Sing Sing Kill Brewery serving up their icy cold local craft beers. Word is, we will also have a truck selling sweet & savory arancini, or rice balls. It should be quite a fantastic night!

June 21st-- the longest day of the year! Otherwise known as the Summer Solstice. How will you be celebrating? Good thing we have a lot of options available right here in Town tonight! There are still a few hours left of "Make Music Day" presented by Mike Risko Music -- if the Ukulele Jam at Gourdine Park can't put you in a good mood, literally nothing will. Please notice this last minute addition: OHS grad Justin Ciuzio's band, Nine Seven Pta, will be rocking The Boathouse from 6-7PM.
Also, special shout out to Mike & Miriam Risko-- did you know that, earlier this week, Mike Risko Music was named one of the Top 100 Music Stores... WORLDWIDE? And that it is their 6th time receiving the honor? Way to go, guys!
