  Town of Ossining EAC new members

Students on the EAC will have the opportunity to learn about meaningful environmental issues and explore town policies, such as the protection of our trees, wetlands and other natural resources.

The EAC meets monthly where student participation is encouraged. M.S. and H.S. members are given opportunities to create impactful, self-driven projects.  All volunteer work counts towards community service hours.

If you are a 6th-10th grader from Anne M. Dorner Middle School or Ossining High School and are interested in joining the EAC, please submit a letter with your contact information, and reasons for wanting to join the committee to Mitzi Elkes, Town of Ossining EAC Chairperson,.

We are excited to hear from you and thank you for your interest in the Town of Ossining Environmental Advisory Committee!

We are doing two encore Compost Give Back Days! On Friday, May 12, 2023 and Saturday, May 13, 2023 the Town of Ossining will be providing free compost to participants of the Ossining Composts program.  Hours will be 9am to 12 noon at Cedar Lane Park (235 Cedar Lane, Ossining).  Each participant will be able to fill a 6-gallon bucket with free compost.  Participants must bring their own bucket (the green, home storage/transportation bin from the compost kit is 6-gallons), or pre-purchase a composting kit at: https://ossiningcomposts.org/compost-kits/, which will include a 6-gallon bucket.  Please fill out this form to let us know that you will be joining us!

The Ossining Arts Council (OAC) and Westchester Collaborative Theater (WCT) will present The 2023 Living Art Event (LAE), featuring OAC artworks and WCT one-act plays inspired by them, at the WCT black box performance space in downtown Ossining from May 12-21.

Poetry/Spoken Word Open Mic for ages 16 and up. Bring your talent, your works-in-progress, and your positive energy! This event takes place every second Friday of the month. Co-hosted by two of Ossining's own. (Come find out who!) $5 per attendee at the door; all proceeds to be shared among the poet performers. This event will take place on Friday May 12 at 7:30 PM

Join the Hudson Valley Books for Humanity on Friday May 19  for a moving exploration of the environmental and human impacts of the Vietnam War. Celebrated author George Black will read from his new book, The Long Reckoning: A Story of War, Peace, and Redemption in Vietnam. The 3BS, an Ossining based high-energy Blues band, will be performing live at Carmine's in Elmsford. This performance is part of the Blues Night Out in Westchester, sponsored by Carmine's and the Hudson Valley Blues Society. This event will take place on Friday May 19 at 6pm

Spring is (mostly) here and it's time to get back to work cleaning and restoring our historic grave markers in Dale and Sparta Cemeteries. The Ossining Historic Cemeteries Conservancy starts their season on Saturday, May 13th, from 9:00 am to Noon at Dale Cemetery in Ossining.  All ages and experience levels are welcome - equipment and instruction are provided.  Be sure to follow the yellow arrow signs from the entrances to find the location in the cemetery. So mark your calendars and bring your friends - it's a lot of fun too!  Students can get community service credits. The AMD PTA is holding their spring fundraiser a life in motion, photography mini family photo sessions, the dates available are April 20- May 13

  

 

Ossining-based Westchester Ballet Company presents a special one-hour spring performance on May 17th at 7:00 pm for families with young children at Chappaqua Performing Arts Center that includes Peter and the Wolf, Etudes, and Dance of the Hours.
