A message from Westchester County :
In coordination with the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, the County is coordinating an Initial Damage Assessment to collect data related to storm-related loss. In addition to collecting information about damages to public infrastructure New York State is also collecting data directly from residents and businesses regarding personal losses.
The below survey link can be shared with residents and businesses through your local communications methods, informing individuals impacted by the September 29th severe weather event to report their damages in support of a potential request for federal recovery assistance.
This State survey tool is meant to help in collecting information and data on damages in support of a potential request for federal assistance, not to duplicate any ongoing relief efforts. Information collected via the survey will be shared with each municipality identified through the reporting process, with Westchester County and the State of New York.
If you are already utilizing an alternate damage report intake tool feel free to continue using it, and please report the results of that canvas to our office. Attached for your reference is a spreadsheet containing the survey questions. Also, if you have identified any unmet needs in your community related to the storm please let us know so we can work with you to make the appropriate referrals.
Self-Report Damage Survey Link can be found here:
About this survey:
In collaboration with affected counties, New York State has developed this online form allowing residents to self-report damages to their homes and/or businesses from the most recent rainfall flooding event. The purpose of this form is solely to collect information that may help State and local officials identify damages and to develop requests by the State for federal disaster recovery assistance programs. This form is NOT an application for disaster relief programs.
Please note:
1. Do not use this form to report immediate, life-threatening needs. Call 911.
2. Reporting damage is a voluntary activity and is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency.
3. Completing this form does not guarantee disaster relief assistance.
4. Please submit one survey per affected housing unit or business.
5. This form is for damages that occurred in New York State only.

Please note that our weekly Town Board Meetings are scheduled to take place at the John Paul Rodrigues Center until further notice.
This Monday, on September 11th, there will be a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Ossining Louis Engel Waterfront Park at 7 PM.
On Saturday, September 16th, at 9 AM, there will be an information booth in preparation for Car Free Day, at the Ossining Farmers Market.
Car Free Day is recognized annually and internationally on September22. It was founded on the aspiration that on that day, people would be encouraged to travel by means other than a car.
This will be the sixth year our community is planning events leading up/on/after Car Free Day with various events taking place. In partnership with 511NYRideshare, Green Ossining and the Town and Village of Ossining will once again be encouraging Ossining residents and communitymembers to reduce their single occupancy driving on international Car Free Day (this year its on Friday, September 22nd) and instead telework, bike, walk, carpool, vanpool, drive an electric vehicle, or ride a train, bus, or subway. The ultimate idea is to reduce emissions by any measure with single-occupancy vehicle use being the worst and the main activity we want to limit,carpooling/ridesharing/vanpooling being better (considered “car lite”), public transit a bit better, and teleworking, biking, walking and driving electric )also considered “car lite”) as the best. For the past two years, we have incorporated and promoted local businesses interested in incentivizing ($1 or a percentage off a purchase, a free item, etc) and rewarding their customers for participating in Car Free Day. If you are a business that would like to participate in this effort, please fill out the form indicating your offer here by Wednesday, September 13th.
