Supervisor's Update- August 9th

Food Truck Friday is BACK at the Waterfront tonight! Our friends at the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce have a great line-up for us starting at 5PM, including Aji Limo/Peruvian Cuisine, Cravin Jamaican Cuisine, Sloppie Joes (if you haven't tried their Churros filled with Bavarian Cream, you're going to want to do that ASAP), Westchester Burger Company, Penny Lick Ice Cream Company, Brothers Fish & Chips, and some locally brewed suds from Sing Sing Kill Brewery to wash it all down!

Come for the snacks and stay for the music! Local favorite The Old Mill Singers will take stage after Elisa Peimer, OHS grad and opening act starts off the night at 7PM. Make sure to bring your chairs and blankets (pack a few extras-- that rain from Wednesday may have left the field a bit soggy) and get your spot ready for a great night of family fun on the Hudson!

First and foremost, I want to thank my fellow local officials and members of our community who joined together last night for the Candlelight Vigil at Louis Engel Park. While we were in discussions about weather cancelations until the very last minute, we decided to follow through and it was a great choice. The vigil was well attended and we even got to see a double rainbow. It was incredibly touching to join together to honor the lives lost in the mass shootings of the past two weeks in El Paso and Dayton, and to take a public stand about the violence that this community will not ignore or tolerate.

Supervisor's Update- August 2nd, 2019

As you may have seen, the Mayor and I released a joint statement today regarding something disturbing that was discovered in our park earlier this week. Please see the statement below.

Tonight is the night! This is one of Ossining's favorite events of the year, so get out there and support our men and women in the Ossining Fire Department! The parade steps off at 7PM from Croton Avenue at Campwoods, but road closures will begin closer to 6PM. We hope to see you along the route, and will end our march in the reviewing stand where we will admire what a great job our department and all the visiting departments, as well, do keeping their apparatus in tip top condition. Take a look at the map below from our friends at the Ossining Police highlighting the parade route-- if you're not coming to cheer on the marchers, try and avoid this area until about 9PM.

Supervisor's Update- July 26th, 2019

It's almost time to get to the Waterfront! Our friends at the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce are back this week with another round of Food Truck Friday-- this week, we have some locals (Aji Limo and Brother's Fish & Chips) as well as the EMB rice ball truck (if you haven't met them yet, you should come by to see what EMB stands for!), and a bunch of newcomers-- Foodie Bus, Penny Lick Ice Cream, and Lobstercraft. Pro tip: make sure to bring some cash with you, as not all trucks are able to take credit cards, and I wouldn't want you to miss out! We have also heard that there will be a wine tasting, and the Chamber will be selling a selection of craft beer curated by Tapsmith in Croton. It's going to be a decadent night at the Waterfront-- it may be advisable to wear something with an elastic waist so you can snack all night long. (That isn't another pro tip. Just planning ahead.)

Once you load your plate and fill your glass, get comfortable and settle in for a night of fun with Ossining's own Mike Risko Band! We know these guys are going to draw a big crowd so make sure to get there well in advance of start time at 7PM and get set up-- the weather is going to be PERFECT.

Supervisor's Update- July 19th, 2019

You may have heard there's a heat wave coming... what better way to beat that heat than with a river breeze? Tonight is the third Food Truck Friday coming at you from our friends at the Greater Ossining Chamber of Commerce-- we will be joined by Westchester Burger Company, Eat My Balls Food Truck, Aji Limo Peruvian Cuisine (that passion fruit and basil refresher will come in handy tonight), Cravin Jamaican Cuisine, Sing Sing Kill Brewery, and FTF newcomer The Blue Pig Ice Cream (happy to have them anytime, but especially in this kind of weather!) Make sure to bring some cash if you plan to check out the trucks, as some of them are unable to take credit cards.

While the trucks line up at 5PM, make sure to get a good spot and plan to settle in for the night. Ossining's own KJ Denhert will be taking the Louis Engel Park stage at 7PM. She is one of our favorites and we can't wait to see you down at the Park tonight for some storytelling, snacks, and an awesome sunset.

Supervisor's Update- July 12th, 2019

What are you doing reading your email? Unless you are doing so from a beach chair or blanket in Louis Engel Park, you are in the wrong spot. Tonight we will feature our second “Food Truck Friday” and 2019 Summer Concert Series installment—Ossining’s own Soul Projekt with featured singer Zola Kendi (I've heard her, she's awesome), will be performing on the Louis Engel Park stage beginning at 7PM, but no need to wait—the food trucks will start slinging at 5PM! This week, come down for Westchester Burger Company, Leila’s Crepe Station, the EMB rice ball truck, Aji Limo, and Sing Sing Kill Brewery. It’s going to be a great night along the Hudson River and we can’t wait to see you there!
