We have had a crazy week here in the Town of Ossining and the Forest O' Fears Haunted Hayride is beginning shortly, so I'll make this quick!

About one hour ago, Budget Officer Maddi Zachacz, Deputy Town Comptroller Dale Ferreira and I filed the Supervisor's (or Tentative) 2018 Budget with our Town Clerk, Mary Ann Roberts- and a few days early, at that!

I want to thank Maddi and Dale, along with our Town Comptroller Tom Warren and all of our Department Heads for helping put together such a fair and responsible budget-- our Town deserves nothing less and we believe we did deliver. Check out the Town's Budget page to see the proposed budget itself, along with the supplementary documents (like our proposed Capital Plan), along with my message to the community about the work we've done, and the work we're looking forward to doing in 2018. The Town Board will be going through the budget over the coming weeks with our Department Heads-- you can see the schedule for these meetings on the Town Budget page as well-- and we will hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 28th. However, if something catches your eye, there's no need to wait until the 28th-- email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., or the whole Town Board at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it., and tell us what you think!

As for the Hayride, Fern and her crew have been hard at work this week putting the final touches on the Forest O' Fears-- I am sworn to secrecy, but they have really outdone themselves this year.

You'll just have to come by and see for yourself! There are some tickets left for a few time slots both tonight (Friday, October 27th) and tomorrow (Saturday, October 28th), so be sure to head to the website and purchase timed tickets now-- you can buy tickets with your phone once you've reached Cedar Lane Park but be warned, the service is frighteningly spotty! (And, it may be harder to get your choice of time slot!)

Not up for the Hayride itself? Never fear-- $7 will grant you a "field access" pass to the Halloween Village, where you will be entertained by The Mike Risko Band, DJ Johnny G and performers from Sleepy Hollow Performing Arts, not to mention Sean from Flaming Barrel of Monkeys Entertainment, who will be doing three fire shows per night. Also, be sure to bring along your appetite! We will have Gyro Uno and Abeetz Pizza Trucks there to sell you something delicious (along with Xquisite Coffee to warm you up!), and you won't want to miss your 2017 Forest O' Fears t-shirt! I better get moving, I can almost taste that pizza now... I have my eye on their famous Avocado Toast pie. If you had seen it, you would too!

Will I see you at the Forest O' Fears at Cedar Lane Park? I sure hope so! Check out some other great events coming up in and around Ossining.

We also have been clued in buy our friends at Sustainable Westchester that the all-electric BMW i3 will be on display tomorrow (10/28) in Millwood at Gedney Park as part of Millwood's 200 Year Aniversary between 12PM and 5PM. Sustainable Westchester can help you get a discount of up to $19,200-- visit their website to learn more.

The Town Board has no meeting this coming week, so we are looking forward to seeing you on Halloween (October 31st) at the 2nd Annual Halloween Spooktacular on Main Street. The Ossining Police Department and Ossining Recreation & Parks have some exciting plans for all who attend, including a costume parade, music, activities and "Trunk or Treat" to get your fill of candy for the season. All are welcome between 6PM and 8PM to join this safe, family-friendly Halloween party in Ossining.

I also hope to see everyone at the Millwood Ossining Go! (MOGO) Forum on Thursday, November 2nd-- please note that the time of the afternoon session has been moved from 1PM to 12PM (so the sessions are now 12PM-2PM and 7PM-9PM), but don't feel pressured to commit to the whole session. We have arranged this as a drop-in style format, so I hope you can join us, however briefly, and let us know what you think of the proposed routes and what your priorities are as we strive for a more walkable and bikeable community.

I also want to keep our next Town Hall meeting on everyone's radar--  on Tuesday, November 14th beginning at 7PM at the Ossining Public LIbrary's Budarz Theater, we will be joined by Mr. Gerald Benjamin, the Associate Vice President for Regional Engagement at SUNY New Paltz, who also conducted  pdfa study about the impact of enacting Homestead in the City of Kingston (3.98 MB) . John Wolham from the New York State Office of Real Property Tax Services will also be with us. I hope you will mark your calendar for this informative meeting coming up.

As many of you may have heard, director Spike Lee has been filming a new movie over the past several weeks right here in Ossining. We spoke with the production crew today, who informed us that on Monday (10/30), Wednesday (11/1) and Thursday (11/2), they will be filming on Meadowbrook Drive before returning to Main Street on Tuesday (10/31). This is a big production with a lot of cast, crew, and cars, which has necessitated the temporary closure of several roads around Town during filming. Please leave extra time to get around!

Finally, I do want to ask everyone to keep an eye on the weather this weekend-- the National Weather Service is calling for a possible Flood Watch on Sunday afternoon and evening with several inches of rain and heavy gusts of wind-- please try to plan your outdoor activities accordingly!

Happy Halloween! Be safe and have fun.
