We have had an exciting few weeks here in the Town- I have continued my listening tour, and am so impressed by the amazing work being done every day by our staff.
I had a chance to see a new side of the work we do during snowstorms, and I am so grateful for the hard work our Highway and Parks Departments undertook during the weekend storm- Jonas- to clean up our roads. Also, thanks to our Police, Fire and Ambulance for being at the ready, and helping out wherever needed to make sure everyone was safe.
Highway Superintendent Michael G. O’Connor and I completed Office of Emergency Management training with the County and the State during the last week in January. I learned that, not surprisingly, it's all about coordination and communication, identifying and assessing situations, and mitigating effects. I will continue to make sure I am at the ready to make sure we take advantage of all of our resources to protect life and property and that we plan appropriately for any natural or man-made disaster. I am also hopeful we can adopt a resolution to be a part of the county’s hazard mitigation plan which will position us to be able to apply for FEMA grants.
That same week, I participated in a number of meetings, including updates on the good work OVAC is providing for our Mid-Hudson Ambulance District, with quicker response times and greater numbers of calls, all affordably. We have some other communities that we are meeting with so if they are interested in participating as well, we could collaborate with a bigger share of the area.

Town Hall Meeting
February 2nd, 2016 7:30pm
Ossining Public Library, Budarz Theater
The Town Board of the Town of Ossining will hold a Town Hall Meeting at the Ossining Public Library on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2016 at 7:30 pm to introduce a concept for a program to showcase our local businesses and Town Parks called “Mind, Body, Spirit Ossining.” This program would invite local businesses to offer a sampling of their wellness and fitness programs for the public at one of our Town Parks or outdoor spaces, during 1-2 hour sessions starting in the spring. This would be a Town-wide initiative to encourage wellness, fitness, and nutrition, and also support economic development. If you are interested in this program, or would like to learn more, please attend this Town Hall Meeting to be a part of our community brainstorming.
The Ossining Historic Cemeteries Conservancy will also be presenting their proposals and ideas for the upcoming year at Tuesday’s meeting.
At 9AM today (January 23rd, 2016), the Town of Ossining declared a Snow Emergency, which is expected to remain in place until 5PM on Sunday, January 24th, 2016.
Please keep vehicles off the roads. You can call Con Edison at 1-800-75-CONED to report power outages- remember to keep away from any downed wires.
Con Ed's website also offers helpful tips on how to report an outage and special precautions that may be necessary.
Stay safe, everyone!
