If you are a fan of the summer weather, you must be enjoying this recent heatwave! Even though the calendar says we have a few weeks of spring remaining, you would not know it by the way it feels out there.

We hosted an historic meeting on Tuesday evening at the Ossining Public Library, where the Town and Village held a joint Work Session to discuss some topics that will help to strengthen our community's future. With representation from the Ossining School Board of Trustees and from the Ossining Library Board of Trustees, we discussed the provision of water throughout Ossining. Missed the meeting? Check out the video on our Youtube channel.

Also at that meeting, we welcomed Ben Syden from the Laberge Group in Albany, a consulting firm that has had incredible success in securing grant dollars to be used toward shared service studies. The Town and Village Board are interested in seeing how we can continue down the road of ending duplicative services in Ossining, and we believe that Ben and his team may be the ones to help us get there. We are all committed to keeping an open mind and seeing where the data leads us.

Speaking of the library, the Ossining Public Library is in the midst of their long range planning process, and they need your input! You can fill out their survey online here, and let them know what you would like to see happen at your library. All entries will be eligible to win an iPad mini (great for reading e-books)!

This week, several of our local restaurants donated a portion of their proceeds to the Ossining High School Interact Club as they continue to fundraise on behalf of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Thank you to the Interact Club members for contributing to our world so positively, and a BIG thanks to Lucy's Pizza, Pine & Oak, the Landmark Diner and Antipasti di Napoli for their generosity.

Tomorrow, as we prepare for Memorial Day, David Garcia of G.E.M. Fitness Systems will lead an outdoor session to teach the importance of proper warm-ups and cool downs, and will also guide you through a great workout to start your weekend. You can join David at Nelson Park at 11AM. This is just one of the programs that the Town will be offering over the summer months as part of Mind, Body, Spirit Ossining-- please take a look at the program page for more information about the next few offerings.

I hope to see everyone at the Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 30th, as we pay homage to all those who have fought for our freedoms. The parade steps off at 9:30AM from Croton Avenue at Calam Avenue, and will proceed down Croton Avenue to South Highland before turning left and continuing to Nelson Park, where the parade will be followed by a remembrance ceremony. We have a great new addition to the program this year: eight different Girl Scout Troops made wreaths to honor our veterans, and those will be the ones we use at the ceremony this year. Wait until you see what a great job they did!

Take a look at some other events coming up this week-- I hope to see you around Town! No matter how you decide to spend your weekend, please take some time to remember all those who have sacrificed their all for our freedom.
