Tomorrow (Friday, September 21st), Ossining is Celebrating Car Free Day!

Tomorrow (Friday, September 21st) will be the first time Ossining is participating in International Car Free Day! We have been working with 511RideShare, a group that encourages New Yorkers to reduce the number of single user vehicles on our roads, and if this is new to you, you're just the person to help us.
Even if you can't commit to going completely car-free, how about car "lite?" Take a walk to the post office or to grab your morning coffee. Carpool to work with a friend, or take the bus or train. More into the two-wheel thing? Check out the Lime Bikes (green and yellow and hard to miss!) all over Town; your first ride is free when you download the app. Lime Bikes are a dockless alternative to CitiBikes-- look on the app for where a bike is available near you, and go use it. When you're done, leave it wherever you are (someplace safe and out of the roadway, please) and let the app know you're finished. The bike will be picked up by the next person who wants to take it for a spin, or by representatives from Lime Bike.
Ossining is competing with other municipalities around the Hudson Valley, so be sure to join us and take the pledge! I did just that at the Ossining Farmer's Market this past weekend, and I was in good company. I have a feeling we may take home the gold!
Are you on social media? If so, show off your photos of your favorite mode of alternative transportation and use hashtag #carfreedayhv.
Special thanks to our partners at 511RideShare, as well as the Village of Ossining, Green Ossining and Lime Bike.
Looking forward to seeing everyone out there tomorrow! I'll be the one on the bright orange bike (wearing my helmet, of course!)
