At their Regular Meeting on Tuesday, May 12, the Town Board adopted changes to the 2020 Assessment calendar authorized pursuant to the Governor’s Executive Order 202.22. Property owners will have an additional 30 days to review their change in assessment for 2020 prior to the Tentative Roll being filed. This allows additional time for property owners to schedule virtual informal review meetings with Tyler Technologies prior to the filing of the Tentative Roll. Once the Tentative Roll is filed, property owners will have additional time to file a grievance with the Board of Assessment Review. Please note this option only became legally available to the Town Board on April 20, 2020 when the Executive Order was issued by Governor Cuomo.

The Town Board adopted the following changes to the 2020 Assessment Calendar:

  • Tentative Roll filing date is now June 30, 2020 (it was previously June 1, 2020);
  • Grievance Day is now July 21, 2020 (it was previously June 16, 2020).

2020 Reappraisal Project Update

All property owners should have received Preliminary Change of Assessment Notices in the mail. Please note, if your assessed property value is not going to change, you will not have received a Notice.

If you feel your preliminary 2020 assessment does not accurately reflect the market value of your property as of July 1, 2019:

  1. Schedule a virtual informal review with Tyler Technologies by calling: 800-829-4235 Monday through Friday 9:00AM to 4:00PM or by logging on to to schedule an appointment. Please refer to the document “2020 Preliminary Property Assessment Informal Review Guidelines” that was included in the mailer with your preliminary assessment for additional guidelines.
  2. If you still disagree with your assessed value following an informal review and decision by Tyler Technologies, you can file a grievance with the Board of Assessment Review after the filing of the Tentative Roll on June 30, 2020 and prior to 9pm on July 21, 2020. Grievance forms may be accessed online. This year, hearings before the Board of Assessment Review on Grievance Day (July 21, 2020) will be held via Zoom.
