It's almost time to close out another year in the Town of Ossining, and boy have we been busy! Between wrapping up the budget, passing two more local laws, and celebrating our Boards and Committees, we have done a lot of celebrating these past few weeks. We have so much to be thankful for in Ossining--  our amazing staff, our beautiful parks, our varied local businesses, our friends and neighbors. I am so excited to begin my 3rd term as your elected Town Supervisor, and I am humbled by and appreciative of your continued support.

I'm looking very much forward to celebrating with my elected colleagues and our community members on Wednesday at the 2020 Town and Village of Ossining Inauguration of Elected Officials.  I will be in good company at this swearing in-- my Board colleagues Greg Meyer and Liz Feldman, along with Justices Reisman and Leavitt, Town Clerk Sue Donnelly and Town Highway Superintendent Pete Connolly, will all take the Oath of Office at 12PM on New Year's Day. Please join us!

But let's take a step back... what are you doing New Year's Eve? If you're planning a get together at home, make sure to stop by the Ossining Farmers Market tomorrow and pick up some provisions for Tuesday night! Our resident Farmers Market connoisseur Victoria Cafarelli suggests a loaf of bread from Wave Hill, complemented by a selection of olives from Pickle Licious, to get the snacking started! (She also highly recommends picking up some maple syrup from Sunset View Farm for your New Year's Day pancakes.)

If you do decide to ring in the New Year out on the town, head to Sing Sing Kill Brewery for Brew Year’s Eve. The night includes entertainment, games, prizes, a Taste of Ossining buffet style dinner, and midnight toast, plus a hands-on brewing experience with commemorative keepsakes.  A $60 ticket includes hands-on brewing experience, A Taste of Ossining buffet style dinner, entertainment, games and prizes, complimentary NY farm sparkling wine toast at midnight, brewer’s breakfast in the wee hours of the New Year, and commemorative keepsakes to take home Get your tickets now!

If you survive Brew Year's Eve, Sing Sing Kill Brewery continues the fun on New Year's Day, too, with karaoke! Check out their website to see all that’s going on there.

Looking to start the year off with a new mindset? The Ossining Public Library has you covered. Free Beginner Yoga classes take place each Saturday morning at 9:30AM and each Monday evening at 7PM (make sure to come QUITE early-- these classes are super popular and the doors will be closed when there is no more room and that's so not zen). Or, check out the Friday afternoon Mindfulness Class at 4:30PM-- the format alternates weekly between meditation to relax the mind and body, and "Daily Life," which looks at practical ways to reduce stress, improve health, and overcome fear and anxiety. The class also covers tips on how to problem solve and use techniques. A year with less stress? I'm in.

One of our main priorities in 2020 is ensuring everyone gets counted in the upcoming Census.  To that end, I encourage you to mark your calendars for an informational meeting being scheduled by the Ossining School District in early January.  Come get the facts so you can be more informed.  And yes, the Census does have a huge impact on school funding!

Senator David Carlucci has a Senior Advisory Meeting coming up in January at the Ossining Public Library.  This meeting is sure to provide lots of helpful information for our seniors -- I encourage you to attend.

If you plan to be out and about tomorrow (Saturday), please note that the NYSDOT will resume repair on the guiderails on Route 9A begininng at 7AM and ending at 3PM. Inner lanes in both directions will be closed throughout most of the Ossining stretch. Leave yourself extra time and drive carefully!

The Town Board will not be meeting this week (5th Tuesday) and just as a reminder-- Town Offices will close at 12PM on Tuesday, December 31st and will be closed on Wednesday, January 1st. We will be in bright and early on Thursday, January 2nd to kick off 2020 with you.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, healthy 2020!
