The Town of Ossining is seeking a part-time Food Service Helper and a part-time Chauffeur for the Senior Nutrition Program!  Applications for both positions are due by 4:30pm on Friday, July 9, 2021.  See below for more details on these two positions:

FOOD SERVICE HELPER

TOWN SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM

17.5 HOURS PER WEEK (PART TIME)

Under the direction of the Site Manager, performs simple, routine manual work in the Nutrition Program, which involves serving food to senior citizen participants in the program.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)

Serves prepared food as delivered by caterer or cooked at on-site kitchen;

Sets tables;

Clears tables of dirty dishes;

Cleans tables, chairs, serving tables and other equipment;

Serves food from steam tables;

May prepare sandwiches, salads and vegetables;

Fills sugar bowls and salt and pepper shakers.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Familiarity with the proper method of serving food; ability to follow simple oral and written directions; courtesy; ability to get along well with senior citizens; tact; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position. Spanish speaking preferred.

Under the direction of the Site Manager, operates an automotive vehicle carrying senior citizens or delivering meals to homebound senior citizens on an assigned route and when necessary performs maintenance tasks in connection with such operation. The operator is responsible for the safety of the seniors who are passengers. Does related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative Only)

Operates an automotive vehicle carrying senior citizens on a regular schedule or on special occasions;

Checks the operating condition of the vehicle before starting on a trip;

Reports any mechanical defect to immediate superior;

Instructs or informs senior citizens about safety practices when entering and leaving vehicle;

May be required to perform minor maintenance tasks on the vehicle.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES: Good knowledge of driving safety practices and traffic laws and regulations; ability to operate the vehicle under all driving and road conditions; ability to make minor repairs to the vehicle; ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions; ability to get along well with senior citizens; ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position; mechanical aptitude; mental alertness; dependability; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Spanish speaking preferred.

REQUIREMENT FOR APPOINTMENT: Possession of the valid operator's license appropriate to the vehicle to be operated at time of appointment.
