Please note that our weekly Town Board Meetings are scheduled to take place at the John Paul Rodrigues Center until further notice.

This Monday, on September 11th, there will be a 9/11 remembrance ceremony at the Ossining Louis Engel Waterfront Park at 7 PM.

On Saturday, September 16th, at 9 AM, there will be an information booth in preparation for Car Free Day, at the Ossining Farmers Market.

Car Free Day is recognized annually and internationally on September22. It was founded on the aspiration that on that day, people would be encouraged to travel by means other than a car.

This will be the sixth year our community is planning events leading up/on/after Car Free Day with various events taking place. In partnership with 511NYRideshare, Green Ossining and the Town and Village of Ossining will once again be encouraging Ossining residents and communitymembers to reduce their single occupancy driving on international Car Free Day (this year its on Friday, September 22nd) and instead telework, bike, walk, carpool, vanpool, drive an electric vehicle, or ride a train, bus, or subway. The ultimate idea is to reduce emissions by any measure with single-occupancy vehicle use being the worst and the main activity we want to limit,carpooling/ridesharing/vanpooling being better (considered “car lite”), public transit a bit better, and teleworking, biking, walking and driving electric )also considered “car lite”) as the best. For the past two years, we have incorporated and promoted local businesses interested in incentivizing ($1 or a percentage off a purchase, a free item, etc) and rewarding their customers for participating in Car Free Day.  If you are a business that would like to participate in this effort, please fill out the form indicating your offer here by Wednesday, September 13th.
