As we prepare for another weekend here in Ossining, I have a few items to share with you about what we've been working on lately. It was another short week, due to the holiday on Monday, and we also had a slightly shortened day on Wednesday due to the snowstorm, but I am proud to say we have packed an awful lot in to the time we had!
Some exciting news this week-- Ossining was chosen to move on to Phase 2 of the Robert Wood Johnson Culture of Health Prize, for our collective efforts towards making Ossining a healthy community. Working with our partners at Open Door Family Medical Center, Neighbors Link, and the Ossining School District, we submitted our Phase 2 application yesterday, which included a 4 minute long video segment highlighting some of Ossining's exemplary programming. Hopefully, we will soon hear if we got chosen for Phase 3, which would involve a site visit from the selection committee. We are competing for one of ten $25,000 prizes-- we will keep you posted as we hear more!
As we move closer to February 1st, I want to share a special announcement from our Receiver of Taxes, Holly Perlowitz.
"Hello Ossining Taxpayers WHO HAVE NOT YET PAID THEIR 2ND HALF INSTALLMENT OF 2017/2018 SCHOOL TAXES (this e-mail cannot determine who has paid vs. has not – sorry, someday:)),
Just a reminder that your 2nd Installment of 2017/2018 School Taxes are due by Wednesday, January 31st. It is really important that you pay close attention to this deadline as the penalty goes up to 10% on February 1st. This penalty increase to 10% must be assessed and cannot be waived for any reason (it's the law!).
You can pay in three ways:
- Online @ https://www.townofossining.com/cms/resources/tax-bill-online-payment. This is an easy and economical way (it costs $1.50 for an e-check) to have instant proof that the payment was received, subject to collection (your bank deducting out of your account.)
- In our Office - Our Offices are open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm daily to receive your payment. Additionally, on Tuesday, January 30th and Wednesday, January 31st our offices will be open until 7 pm.
- By Mail - Please recognize that if you choose to mail your payment, we can only accept a payment as timely if it has a postmark made by the United States Postal Service (USPS) dated on or before 1/31/2018.
If you use "Bill-Pay" from your Bank, please be aware that they do not use USPS -- so you have to recognize your risk of timely payment -- give plenty of time!!!!.
If you have any questions we are available to quickly respond either by calling our office at 914-762-8790 OR by e-mailing us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
I hope all is going well for you in 2018!!!
Holly"
