Septic System Maintenance Record: Highway Department Potassium Iodide Pills Available to Ossining Residents Potassium Iodide (KI) pills are available to Ossining residents at the Caputo Community Center, 95 Broadway, Ossining Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 9 pm. Potassium Iodide pills are being distributed by Westchester County to residents within the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone surrounding the Indian Point Power Plants. Potassium Iodide is a simple mineral salt that can be helpful in preventing thyroid cancer in the event of a nuclear accident that releases radioactive iodine into the environment. KI does not protect any part of the body, other than the thyroid.
