John Chervokas Steps Down After Ten Years of Service
The Ossining Town Council received the news of Supervisor John Chervokas’ need to step down from office in February with regret. John has served the Town of Ossining well with wit, wisdom and steadfast leadership. We will miss him at our meetings.
I want to introduce myself to the residents of the Town of Ossining. I am Martha Dodge, formerly your Town Council Member. I have had the pleasure of serving on the board for the past two years and have taken a hands-on approach to my involvement in the workings of our town. The Town Council and I are working hard during this transition and we are available to answer any questions that you may have.
When Supervisor John Chervokas announced his intention to step down from the Supervisor’s position, the Town Council was charged with the duty to appoint his replacement. After deliberation and consideration of the needs of the town, the Council determined that it would be best if someone from the board step in to fill out the year to ease the transition until the election in November is held to elect a Supervisor who would then fill out the term of office. I have been appointed to the Supervisor’s position during this transition.
The Town Board is currently accepting letters of interest and resumes to fill the vacant Council Member position that I formerly held. Please send them to 16 Croton Ave. Ossining, NY 10562 or fax them to 762-0833. We hope to find someone who is active in our town and ready to become active in our town business. We face many challenges in this economic climate and we will continue to serve our residents as they always have been served. We look forward to welcoming a new board member and continuing a long tradition of steadfast leadership for the town.
I will be continuing to post news about our town in these letters as well as on our website.
See you around Town!
Martha L. Dodge
Town Supervisor
